HEY YOU!
OUTLINE
The QUEER CABARET seminar is composed of 2 parts: a series of art workshops and a public performance.
WORKSHOP
With embracing multiple media, during the workshops, students will create thematic works challenging artistic conventions and traditional canons through new forms, aesthetics, and experimental solutions:
Theme 1 “Hit me baby one more time” is an exploration about how the media and other cultural industries play a key role in the construction of gender.
Theme 2 “Holy Sex” examines symbols and images of feminine, masculine, sexuality and homoeroticism in religious traditions.
Theme 3 “Bad Taste” investigates the ideological, political and historical parameters of “taste”, explores what is meant by designations such as canonical “high culture” and popular “low culture”, and who is empowered to make these distinctions.
Theme 4 “Queer Magic” focuses on the relationship between sexuality and ceremonies, shamanic rites, and spiritual beliefs.
PUBLIC PERFORMANCE
The created thematic artworks (performances, texts, multimedia installations...) will be presented to the public in form of a QUEER CABARET in 2 venues (Lazy Life and RHIZ).
